Business expanded so fast that in 1990, operations relocated from the metropolitan area to the southern part of Puerto Rico into a bigger, custom built facility.

REPCO also manages a 165,000 sq/ft world class facility, ISO 9001:2000 certified, in the Dominican Republic. For over twenty years this operation has applied the same standards of quality and excellence. In addition to our core business we also have extensive experience and capability as high volume sub-contract manufacturer.

The company was started by Russell E. Phelon in Massachusetts in 1944, supplying magnetos to small gasoline engine manufacturers in the United States. Through innovative thinking and research and design, we have grown to become the largest independent manufacturer of ignition systems in the world. Headquartered in Aiken, South Carolina, we are currently the leading supplier of ignition products to most major small gasoline engine manufacturers in the United States, Canada and Europe. Products range from consumer electronics to high voltage ignitions supplied to original equipment manufacturers. In 1953 Phelon started a limited operation in Puerto Rico.

Responding to the constant changes of the market new designs are continuously being developed. New technology allow us to customize to “add value” to the product with new features and improved performance, or to replace existing system functions and save money. Our Caribbean operations still growing and constantly adding new products to our assembly lines. More operations and processes have been transferred to the Caribbean, specifically the Dominican Republic.
